BESSIE MAE OUTLAW, 96, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Jackosn-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.

Services will be Friday, January 4, 2008, at 1:00 P. M. at New Hope Baptist Church in Brownsville with Rev. Charles Thomas officiating.  Interment will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 A. M. until time of service at New Hope Baptist Church.

Mrs. Outlaw is survived by four sons, Joseph Johnson (Patricia) of Mansfield, Ohio, Franz Outlaw of Jackson, O'Daniel Outlaw (Rose) of Conyers, Georgia and Michael Outlaw of Nashville; seven granddaughters; four grandsons; fifteen great grandchildren and three foster great grandchildren.


HAL HAWKINS, 55, died Sunday, December 30, 2007, at Haywood Park Community Hospital in Brownsville.

Services will be Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 2:00 P. M. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Brownsville with Elder Leon King officiating.  Interment will be in Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 P. M. until time of service at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by three brothers, William (Delois) Hawkins of Newark, New Jersey and James (Penny) Hawkins and Roy Hawkins, both of Brownsville and four sisters, Ophelia Turner of Bolivar, Darlene Spight of Faulker, Mississippi and Mattie Ingram and Glodine (Leon) King, both of Brownsville.

ORA MAE "TISSIE" SHAW, 86, died Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Methodist Healthcare North in Memphis.

Services will be Saturday, December 15, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at Rawls Funeral Home in Brownsville.  Interment will be in Will Farrington Memorial Gardens in Brownsville.  The family will receive friends Friday, December 14, 2007, from 7:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at Rawls Funeral Home in Brownsville.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by two sisters, Odessa Gibbs and Annie Florence Powell. both of Flint, Michigan and two brothers, James Herman Bond of Flint, Michigan and Allie B. Bond of Memphis.

BRO. WILLIAM O. ARMSTEAD, 82, died Thursday, November 29, 2007, at Regional Hospital of Jackson.

Services will be Saturday, December 8, 2007, at 1:00 P. M. at Westside Church of Christ in Brownsville with Bro. Jessie Webb, Jr. and Bro. Harold Redd officiating.  Interment will be in Farrington Cemetery in Brownsville.  The family will receive friends Friday, December 7, 2007, from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. at Jones Street Church of Christ in Newbern and Saturday from 12:00 Noon until time of service at Westside Church of Christ.

Bro. Armstead, the widower of Hattye Bond Armstead, is survived by his son, Harold Armstead and daughter-in-law, Cie Armstead, of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, Louis Armstead and Fred Armstead of Memphis and one sister, Dorothy Rogers of Bolingbrook, Illinois.

O. C. DICKERSON, 80, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, at his residence in Bells.

Services will be Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at Deliverance House of Prayer in Denmark with Minister William Northern officiating.  Interment will be in Belleview Cemetery in Bells.

Mr. Dickerson, the widower of Josephine Coleman Dickerson, is survived by four sons, Charles, Ellis and John, all of Haywood County and Leon of Memphis; two daughters, Frankie and Patricia, both of Memphis; one brother, John Harold Dickerson of Brownsville; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

MATTIE L. SHAW, 68, died Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at her residence in Brownsville.

Services will be Saturday, November 24, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Brownsville with Rev. Rickey Reed officiating.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Baptist Church Cemetery in Brownsville.

Mrs. Shaw, the widow of Willie Nathan Shaw, is survived by three daughters, Debbie Barken and Shirley Taylor, both of Brownsville and Willie Joe Shaw of Chicago, Illinois; two sons, Willie Shaw and Kenneth Shaw, both of Brownsville; twenty-four grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

DEVONTE' ARNEZ WHITE, 15, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, at his residence in Brownsville.

Services will be Saturday, November 24, 2007, at 11:00 A. M. at Rawls Funeral Home in Brownsville with Rev. James T. Byars officiating.  Interment will be in Turnpike Cemetery in Brownsville.

Mr. White is survived by his mother, Sheila Williams of Nashville; his father, Michael White of Brownsville; four sisters, Renesha Williams, Rushun Williams and Alexandria White, all of Nashville and Kierra White of Brownsville; three brothers, Deandre Williams, Dejuan Williams and De'Shun Williams, all of Nashville; his grandmother, Martha Lou White of Brownsville and his grandfather, Robert Butler of Brownville.

JOHN ALBERT CLAYBON, 78, died Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.

Services will be Saturday, November 24, 2007, at 1:00 P. M. at Christ Church of Brownsville with Rev. J. W. Shaw officiating.  Interment will be in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery in Stanton.

Mr. Claybon, the widower of Shirley Jean Lee Claybon, is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Clark of Stanton; three grandchildren and one great grandson.

ESSIE BEATRICE WILLIAMS, 75, died Friday, November 9, 2007, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Services will be Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at Wray's Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville with Rev. Terry Swain officiating.  Interment will be in Belmont Cemetery in Mason

Mrs. Williams, the widow of Jesse James Williams, is survived by two daughters, Jerline Davis of Mason and Shirley Thompson of Somerville; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Vernida Campbell of Somerville, Shirley Shelton of Memphis and Callie B. Falls of Ashly, Mississippi and two brothers, Charles Falls and Robert Falls, both of California.

KEVIN DEWAYNE BOND, 32, died Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Southern Hill Medical Center in Nashville.

Services will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at 1:00 P. M. at Rawls Funeral Home in Brownsville with Rev. C. N. Ricks officiating.  Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Brownsville.

He is survived by his mother, Betty O'Neal; his father, M. C. Bond, Jr.; a daughter, Sydnei; a brother, Michael Bond and his grandmother, Minnie Owens Bond.

BERTHA MAE TAYLOR GREER, 52, died Saturday, November 13, 2007, at her residence in Jackson.

Services will be Saturday, November 10, 2007, at 1:00 P. M. at Douglas Chapel C. M. E. Church in Stanton with Rev. James Humphreys officiating.  Interment will be in Douglas Chapel C. M. E. Church Cemetery in Stanton.  The family will receive friends Friday, November 9, 2007, from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at Rawls Funeral Home in Brownsville and Saturday from 12:00 Noon until time of service at Douglas Chapel C. M. E. Church.

Mrs. Greer, the wife of Robbie D. Greer, is also survived by two sons, Michael Taylor of Jacksonville, Florida and Jason Greer of Arlington, Virginia; two daughters, Robbin Monique Greer of Jacksonville, Florida and Latosha S. Taylor of Brownsville; four grandchildren, LaDarius B. Taylor, Jaylon L. Taylor, Ayani S. Taylor and Symeon O. Cobham-Portorreal; two sisters, Georgia Mae Taylor of Brownsville and Willie Mae Powell of Stanton and five brothers, Nelson Taylor of Louisville, Kentucky, Hilret Taylor of Ratcliff, Kentucky, Thomas Taylor of Brownsville, Arthur Taylor of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Thomas Mayes of Sanford, Florida.

MARION JEWELL MAYS ALLEN, 78, died Saturday, November 10, 2007, at her residence in Brownsville.

Services will be Saturday, November 10, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at Farmers Chapel C. M. E. Church in Brownsville with Rev. Ralph Thompson officiating.  Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Brownsville.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 A. M. until time of service at Farmers Chapel C. M. E. Church.

Mrs. Allen, the widow of Clarence Alfred Allen, Sr., is survived by a son, Clarence A. Allen II; two grandchildren; a sister, Thelma M. Smith and a brother, Rev. Thomas H. Mays, Jr.

WILLIE T. MANN, 72, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Services will be Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 1:00 P. M. at Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Brownsville with Rev. Johnny B. Scott and Elder Clinton McCuller officiating.  Interment will be in Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Brownsville.  The family will receive friends Friday, November 2, 2007, from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at Rawls Funeral Home in Brownsville.

Mr. Mann, the widower of Callie Mae Walker Mann, is survived by four sons, Donnie Mann of Atwood, Danny Mann of Rockford, Illinois, David Mann of Jackson and Paul Mann of Brownsville; seven daughters, Margaret Reed and Janet Mitchell of Rockford, Illinois, Sandra Tyus, Diane Jones and Annette Bradford of Brownsville, Deborah Thornton of Franklin and Karen Edwards of Jackson; four sisters, Katie Gause of St. Louis, Missouri and Sarah Reed, Mattie Mack and Georgia Clark of Rockford, Illinois; twenty-seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

SAMUEL JAMES FLAGG, 80, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.

Services will be Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Brownsville with Rev. George Seymour officiating.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Baptist Church Cemetery in Brownsville.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 A. M. until time of service at Woodlawn Baptist Church.

Mr. Flagg is survived by a daughter, Jimmie L. Jenkins; three grandsons and six great grandchildren.

SANDRA KAY BOND, 43, died Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Regional Hospital of Jackson.

Services will be Thursday, October 25, 2007, at 2:00 P. M. at First Baptist Church in Brownsville with Rev. Dr. Leonardo Kaufman officiating;  Interment will be in Prospect C. M. E. Church #2 Cemetery in Stanton.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 Noon until time of service at First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bond, the wife of William Grant Bond, is also survived by three sons, William Bond, Jr., Blake Anthony Bond and Corey Wilson Bond; a goddaughter, Jameka R. Bond; her parents, William B. and Alma Queen Jones; six sisters, May Frances Bryant, Alma Jean Miller, Alice M. Jones, Ann Jones, Teresa Shaw and Sherry Starks and three brothers, John A. Jones, David Jones and James Titus Jones.

THURMAN MORRIS RICE, 81, died Monday, October 22, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton in Covington.

Services will be Saturday, October 27, 2007, at 11:00 A. M. at Mercer Baptist Church in Brownsville with Rev. Wilbert Atkins officiating.  Interment will be in Mercer Cemetery in Brownsville.  The family will receive friends Friday, October 26, 2007, from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at Rawls Funeral Home in Brownsville and Saturday from 10:00 A. M. until time of service at Mercer Baptist Church.

Mr. Rice, the husband of Louise Sanderlin Rice, is also survived by four daughters, Ellinois Burton of Nashville, Barbara Hudson of Stanton, Theresa Rice of Brownsville and Shelia DeLoach of Jacksonville, Florida; two sons, Jackson Rice of Stanton and O'Neal Douglas of Nobelsville, Indiana; two sisters, Rose Reed of Chicago, Illinois and Margaret Graham of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers, James Thomas Rice of Buffalo, New York and Earl Rice of Brownsville and eight grandchildren.

LULA B. KINNEY, 54, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Douglas Nursing Home in Milan.

Services will be Sunday, October 21, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at Willow Grove Baptist Church in Brownsville with Rev. Tom Averyheart officiating.  Interment will be in the Willow Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Miss Kinney is survived by two sisters, Patsy Fuller of Brownsville and Dorothy Lewis of Jackson and five brothers, Edward Lee Mann of Peoria, Illinois, Roy Kinney, Jr. of Decatur, Illinois, Charlie Kinney and Larry Kinney of Brownsville and James Kinney of Memphis.

CALLIE MAE MANN, 68, died, Friday, September 28, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.

Services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 1:00 P. M. at Holy Deliverance Church in Brownsville with Rev. Dwight Sanders officiating.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Brownsville.

Mrs. Mann is survived by three daughters, Sarah Henly and Peggy Reed of Brownsville and Joyce Mann of New York; four sons, David Willis, Sonny Willis, Frank Willis and Will Willis of Ripley; fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Blue and Billy Jean Wilson of Brownsville and two brothers, Willie Jelks of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Willie E. Blue of Detroit, Michigan.

RUTHIE D. TURNER, 85, died Friday, September 28, 2007, at her residence in Brownsville.

Services will be Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at Good Hope Baptist Church in Stanton with Rev. Robert Whitley, Sr. officiating.  Interment will be in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Stanton.

Mrs. Turner, the widow of Joseph Turner, is survived by seven daughters, Levern Clark, Laurean Jones, Bertha Bond, Ruby Davis, Patricia Harris and Joann Turner, all of Brownsville and Ruthie Mae Martin of Memphis; three sons, John Lewis Turner of Memphis and Joe Nathan Turner and Danny Turner, both of Brownsville; thirty four grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Ruth Tutt of St. Louis, Missouri, Fannie Stewart of Memphis and Cordelle Peters of St. Paul, Minnesota and two brothers, Rev. U. L. Allen and Ozell Allen, both of Memphis;

ZELMA LOUISE LIGON, 73, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.

Services will be Sunday, October 7, 2007, at 3:00 P. M. at Peaceful Chapel Baptist Church in Brownsville with Rev. Felton R. Williamson, Jr. officiating.  Interment was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Brownsville.

Mrs. Ligon is survived by five children, Vergie Bond, Winford Ligon, Wylie Ligon, Jr., Lenora Ligon and Mark A. Ligon, all of Brownsville; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Jocie Ray of Brownsville; one aunt, Hattie Mae Mann of Memphis and two cousins she helped raise, Stella Swyers and Ruth Morris, both of Indianapolis, Indiana.

David Lee Fitzpatrick, 55, died Saturday, September 22, 2007, at his residence in Brownsville.

Services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 3:00 P. M. at St. Peter C. M. E. Church in Brownsville. with Rev. Claudius N. Ricks officiating.  Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery.

Mr. Fitzpatrick is survived by four daughters, Lashanda Fitzpatrick and Tina Fitzpatrick of Decatur, Illinois, and Karen Fitzpatrick and Rachael Fitzpatrick of Louisville, Kentucky; two sons, David Fitzpatrick, Jr. and Terrance Fitzpatrick of Louisville, Kentucky; his mother, Dorothy Kinnon of Brownsville; four sisters, Wanda Denard of Detroit, Michigan, Donna Sherrill of Covington, Shirley Brown of Jackson and Marilyn Sealie of West Bloomfield, Michigan; six brothers, Roy Kinnon, Jr. of Jackson, Chell White, Ray Fitzpatrick and Don Fitzpatrick of Detroit, Michigan, Curtis Fitzpatrick, Jr. of Brownsville and Robert Lee Johnson of Union City; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

MR. RICHARD STEPHEN THERIAULT, SR.

Mr. Richard Stephen Theriault, Sr., 58, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.

Services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2007, at 1:00 P. M. at Rawls Funeral Home in Brownsville.  Interment will be in Lower Salem Cemetery in Brownsville.

Mr. Theriault, the husband of Georgia Williams Theriault, is also survived by one daughter, Noreen M. Williamson of Jackson, Tennessee; two sons, Richard S. Theriault, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Stephen R. Theriault of Brownsville; his mother, Melba Noreen Theriault of Canada; five sisters, Lynne Rapleband, Donna Theriault, Brenda Theriault, Joyce Theriault and Loren Theriault, all of Canada and three brothers, Larry Theriault, Norman Theriault and Simon Theriault, Jr., all of Canada.

WILMA DOTSON TAYLOR, 86, died Friday, September 14, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.

Services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at 1:00 P. M. at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel in Brownsville.  Interment will be in Rosenwald Cemetery in Brownsville.

Mrs. Taylor, the widow of Moses Taylor, is survived by a son, William M. Taylor of Brownsville; a daughter, Sarah L. Taylor of Brownsville; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.


WALLIS SPRINGFIELD HARRELL, 69, died Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at Regional Hospital of Jackson.

Services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at Willow Grove Baptist Church in Brownsville.  Interment will be in Willow Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Brownsville.

Ms. Harrell is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Harrell of Brownsville and her brothers and sisters, Jim Howell Springfield and Cloria Johnson of Brownsville, Tony Springfield and Clarence Springfield of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Lee Arthur Springfield of Memphis, Asalean Springfield, Betty Springfield and Dorothy Binion of Nashville and Shirley Bannister and Opal Springfield of Silver Springs and Mitchellville, Maryland.
